Ok, we know… That was a few months ago. But seriously, we keep coming across employees that must think we’re all fools with the effort they are putting into their job. Do they actually think we don’t notice? FYI… We don’t believe in Santa Clause, Ghosts and Goblins or the Easter Bunny, but we definitely know there are some April Fools out there… In reality, they’re more like year-long fools. We know who you are, we know how to spot you. You’re not fooling us and you’re foolish to think you’re fooling anyone. This is the guy that some would call a paycheck stealer, taking a check and not doing the work. He takes extra-long lunch breaks. He always has personal issues to take him away from work (aka the drama king). He’s a gossip. He spends more energy getting out of work than putting in the work.
Now, here’s the deal if you’re a manager. Your employees know who the fool is. Hopefully, you don’t have more than one in your department, but one is one too many. This one person can destroy the morale and productivity of the entire team if not dealt with. In fact, you should deal with this person directly, swiftly and severely. This employee will try to recruit others to his side and will corrupt your team. You know who he is. He’s easy to spot. Deal with him or he will make fool out of you.
