I’ve heard comments from employees for years saying… “We love our customers”, “We give great service, it’s what makes us different”, “Our customers love us”… you get the idea. Over the past month I’ve asked over a thousand employees if any of them have referred business to any of their customers that own a business (you know, the customers they supposedly love and care about). In the past month I’ve had less than five of those employees say they had referred business to one of their customers. Actions speak louder than words. You can say you care for or love your customers but if you aren’t referring your best customers to your best customers then you’re not showing the love! Show the love and your customers will thank you with referrals of their own. It’s literally that simple.
