Weak management and leadership will cause your best employees to become disengaged and to have an attitude of indifference about the organization. Engagement surveys matter, engaged managers and leaders matter. Make sure you are setting clear expectations, meeting your best employees one-on-one each day and recognizing successes just to name a few. It matters. If you become disengaged as a manager or leader, your team will follow and your best people will become your worst or quite possibly leave for the competition. What we find most sad it that when we put a link to a great article like the one referenced above, less than 5% of the managers that receive these blog articles take the time to click the link to read the attached supporting document. That speaks very clearly to the level of engagement and the desire of most managers to improve.
