“How did you hear about us?”
That’s it. That’s the question. Every employee that opens accounts at your bank should be asking this question of all new customers. If an existing customer is opening a new account, the employee should ask… “What caused you to open this account?”
When implementing a relationship banking culture it is critical to know who your advocates are and then recognizing and thanking them in an appropriate manner. Without these questions being asked, you are neglecting your most powerful resource for deposit growth. It costs nothing and takes under 1 minute to track. Sadly, most employees feel this is too much to ask and expect. Surprisingly, most banks don’t make it a “Non-Negotiable”.
Start asking the question today. Expect it from every employee. Accept no less… Your advocates deserve it and the success of your bank depends on it.
